As of July 1st 2024, engineered stone as we know it will be banned Australia wide. Suppliers who previously offered engineered stone have now formulated a new product named ‘Mineral Surface’. This product has less than 1% crystalline silica and has been approved for use Australia wide. Mineral Surfaces offer the same durability, colour ranges and use as traditional engineered stones but without the high silica levels.
-
We stock mineral surface colour samples in our showroom in Bayswater North. Please contact us to book an appointment. Natural stones are sourced from our preferred suppliers. We always recommend viewing any natural stones in person prior to deciding. For further information click here.

Templates are what we use as a reference to create your benchtops. Think of templates as a stencil of your final benchtops. They provide the ability to make minor adjustments to achieve a higher quality result. Cabinet makers and builders use 3mm MDF sheets to create the templates which we then visit site to double check and take back to our factory for production.
Substrates are necessary if you require a built-up stone edge like a 40mm apron. Given the stone sheets come in 20mm thickness, the substrate is wrapped with our stone to create the edge. Substrates also act as support for stone benchtops. We always recommend engaging a professional cabinet maker or builder to assist or create templates and substrates for your project.
All appliances such as sinks, hotplates, taps and power outlets must be disconnected prior to our template collection.

This will depend on the size of your benchtops, location of installation and the material selected. Generally, if the project is located in metro Melbourne and is a basic U-shape design we will return to install one week after templates are collected. Please contact our office to confirm dates on 03 9761 6722.
-
Installation time will depend on the size of your project. On average, a U-shape kitchen will take 2-3 hours to complete. Ask our friendly office staff to confirm an estimated installation time.
-
When we visit site to collect templates our team will advise if anything needs to be prepared prior to our installation. This could include moving cars, furniture, or any other obstacles to provide easy access for our installers.

MMG was one of the first stonemasons to obtain the Engineered Stone License enforced by Work Safe Victoria. We work within the regulations of this license when manufacturing and installing your benchtops regardless of material types. All benchtops are prefabricated in our factory. If any polishing is required onsite, H-class dust extraction is used to eliminate any dust creation.
-
Using CNC bridge saws, CNC routers and pneumatic tooling. All machinery and tooling is water-fed to prevent the creation of dust.

Mineral surfaces are relatively easy to maintain and clean. Use warm soapy water and/or window cleaner for daily maintenance. If stubborn marks/stains occur, please contact us for further information.
Natural stone requires more maintenance and care. Wipe up spills straight away. Use mild soaps, warm water and soft clean cloths or sponges. Do NOT use abrasive scourers, harsh detergents, acidic chemicals, bleaches or oil-based cleaners like turpentine. Natural stone is porous and permeable and should be treated with an appropriate sealer to minimise staining and etching.
-
This is not recommended as the sudden change in temperature can cause it to react and either stain (burn), fracture or crack.
-
Keep the chip and call us! We can organise to have this repaired, and we can achieve a much better result if we have the chip. If the chip is lost, we can still perform a repair.

MMG uses Lithofin Nano-Top to seal all natural stone, which is an excellent water and oil repellence on all absorbent natural and concrete stones. Nano-Top provides Optimal protection for kitchen work tops, tables, vanity tops and similar surfaces. This product should be applied every 12 months and can be purchased through us.
If resin or film sealing is required, MMG can provide information of companies who perform this service. This is not included in our scope of works.

Once our quote is accepted with written confirmation, we will invoice a 50% deposit to lock in your project. After our final installation has been completed the balance will be invoiced to you.
